Seek has been around for nearly a decade. To be honest, I am surprised that no one else has done something or started something similar in the past 5 years. 8+ years ago there was Seek42, Rolla-Chan, and a couple of others that temporarily replaced Seek in the down times.
Or maybe I just haven't heard about them, since, well you know, I'm not a student anymore.

given seeks sucess at what it does... its not a suprise nothing else really made it... theres already a large user base for seek, and up to the last year or so the number of active users was fairly significant... but its recently dropped off and is kinda sad...
IRC however is still going strong.

I think a lot of people don't know about the site anymore. It's not that they chose not to check it out, its that they haven't heard about it (because the happiness and rainbows were what kept it in the student body's mind)

it has become a forum with a new sport called xtreme trolling. when new people get on here everyone is a huge dick to them, so they don't come back. very simple, really.

I'll agree with this. But, it's always been this way. Keep your head low and make good, insightful posts until you get a decent rep, then you can you can pull some more crazy shit. If you don't, you get picked on. Unfortunately, the younger people who've had internet since a younger age don't really get this and tard it up more... and thus they stick out and get walloped on...
It's also probably gotten worse b/c people feel more entitled the longer they've been on seek.. and less likely to tolerate the newb antics.
tldr; READ THE FORUM RULES AND YOU'LL BE MUCH BETTER

I have a feeling someone is referring to me? I only learned from the best, our former-almighty overlord. Also, too much time on IRC will do weird things to you. Maybe the reason a lot came here were for the rainbows, most stayed because its a forum for the school. Most people I knew who used the rainbows never actually visited here, so its not all that. I don't care if it lives or dies, IRC is good enough for me
