I like it. It adds to the campus. My old school (I'm a grad student) REALLY sucked campus, and it really made things depressing. For all the pissing and moaning here (which I do understand), UMR's not as bad as people make it out to be.

It is ok, except, what was wrong with the old setup. A big-ass concrete dirt holder isn't my idea of beauty, so unless there was a major problem before(ie retaining wall weren't sound), I don't see why it was necessary. And if it wasn't necessary, then it is just pissing away money. But thats ok, we'll just raise tuition to pay for stupid shit that doesn't matter.

Yeah.. the campus could use some improvements like what they're doing. Those stairs on the left of the library seem a bit steep (the last ones were way too shallow of course), but whatever, that's what the ramp is for. Makes the school look like we actually have a little money.. the rest of the UM campuses (haven't been to cmsu) make this one look 3rd world or something.

Well the story is (and this is from one of my profs) is that the money donated by that one family that was going to be used for the new ME building, is being used instead for landscaping only. Apparently whoever donated the money REALLY loved flowers and such and wants the money spent on the beautification of campus. So expect to see plenty more ridiculous concrete flower beds, among other things.

As far as what i think. I would have like it better if it was a fountain, instead of flowers.

Fuck yea, a fountain would rock.

Unfortunately I don't think the powers that be would trust us with a fountain.

I was told that a fountain was orginally planned. But the Chanceller as he was leaving office, changed it to the dirt thing instead. Would of been the exact same design but instead of dirt, a warter fountain.

Yea, when I was here over the summer it seemed as if they were going to either make a water fountain in the middle or a water fall at the improvements next to the library building.

I would much rather have building improvements than landscaping improvments. Get more for your buck, IMO.

I don't think so. I've looked at the blueprints. It's not like "fountain" was crossed out and "dirt thing" replaced it. I would've loved a fountain, too, but upkeep's a bitch.

If you walk up to the circ. desk in the library, they'll show you the blueprints.

I think it's ok. I wen to CMSU for 2 years and I can say that yea, that's prob one of the nicest campuses around. I care more about thier image then they do school i'm sure. You get a ticket if you get caught walking on the grass. They actully have little (swear filter) signs that say "Your feet are killing me. Please stay off the grass" No Joking. Least they let you run threw the fountains :D that was always fun.

IMO, i think cobblestone walkways would be a really nice addition to campus, although, that would require lots of money and time.

I think that it is exceptionaly stupid to say you want the campus to be prettier, when you cut down a big-ass, tree, that atleast in my opinion, is prettier than all the flowers on campus put together.
