Nope.

But, my theory is that since the percentage of the grade attributied to the labs is undetermined, those are used to help people out at the end of the semester.

But, it wouldn't suprise me if that theory was completely and utterly false.

well it is stated very explicity in the syllabus how many points of what goes toward your grade. Your lab grades are worth a total of 150 points out of the 1000 for the course. It's just 1.5 times your average lab grade.

Nope, no curve. Bieneck would never do that.....that class is you and all you. Actually one of the better things about it....lets you see what you can do alone, without the aid of a curve or even a caluclator on the tests.

I got a B and I went to the PLC for like 20 minutes one time, and that was it. Got A's on most of the tests, was just lazy on the homework

The PLC was a waste of time. I went twice and just ended up figuring it out on my own anyway. Maybe thats because i don't like learning from my peers...i'd rather learn it on my own or talk to a real tutor/insturctor/TA. I did go to LEAD Physics tutoring quite a bit and it did help out, although i hear it sucks this semester.

No, he even stated last year that he didn't care if we all failed, there was no curve. Whatever you do, don't get behind. PLC's were always so full there weren't any seats last semester.

I don't think he curves, the PLC was useless for me, most of the time I just tried to explain wtf we were trying to find to the other people in the the room, it took forever to get ANYTHING done. So, I never went after the 2nd time.

You are better off finding someone who can help you individually, that's my opinion.

Eh, I never went to the PLC when I had the class when it was a waste of time. I didn't do the homework either. Ended up with a B. At the end of the semester I had it, he gave the entire class 10 points. Something about how they tried something new out during recitation, but I think for one he was just trying to be nice.

When I took the class, two semesters ago, he didn't curve, but he did give the class an extra 10 points. From what I have gathered, it was because the majority of the class was less than 5 points from the next grade.
