I thought I found a umr website a few years ago that had design plans for a standard TJ loft. I can't seem to find it now though, so does anybody know the link for the site or have a copy of the plans?
I don't have the prints your looking for, but I could make some prints for you on the full mattress sized loft that I built for myself earlier this semester... (and by prints I mean I could tell you waht you need and how to put it together... not actual 'schematics') Be warned though... my loft cost about $100 (but it includes a nice sized homemade computer desk). Peace out.

The TJ lofts sucked a whole lot, i suggest you talk to somebody with a nice loft or just make your own plans. Just get a tape measure and make sure it's as long/wide as your bed + a bit extra and it's hard to mess up.

Lofts aren't that hard at all. Is just a taller bedframe, made out of wood. 2x4 and 2x6 and a sheet of plywood (to rest on the rafters to put yer mattress on) is pretty much all you need. If you are smart enough, you can get all the measurements for all the cuts, you can even get them cut at most any lumberyard.

The powers that be decided the TJ lofts were unsafe and decided not to sell them anymore. I guess too many people were rolling around and falling out of them. This is probably why you can't find the plans anymore.

That's kinda scary. Too much moving around. Get it rocking side-to-side too much, and it'll fall over, and, well, that couldn't be good. Talk about a mood ruiner

Mine was just too tall for the room. Once I woke up by sitting up really quick, cracked my head on the ceiling, and knocked myself back out. It did rock way too much too.

That doesn't say much, considering the one my current roommate had last year was a home made one, and he still cracked himself on the ceiling a time or seven. But ya, take a couple measurments, plan it out, and you should be fine. And the wider steps you have, the happier you will be, believe me. Use the flat of the board, not the edge

You'd think that, but it's more of the "squeak-squeak-squeak-oh-jesus-is-this-thing-going-to-collapse" that kills the mood.

Well, if it's orgy-sized like Tony said, it would have enough support to hold those people up. It's the "creak-creak-creak-thudthudthud-creak-splat" as it rocks back and forth, side to side. Need to have the legs kinda splayed out, like the tower in France that I can't spell

I can get a hold of the exact measurements of a TJN room if you think that would help. Also if you need an idea for a good loft i think the one i use is awesome (and i kinda like to show off my work) so if you wanna stop by TJ 117 then you can see it.
