BTW, I think Dr. Norman Cox in the EE dept. drives an all-electric VW Rabbit. It is orange.

Yes, Dr. Cox drives a self built electric car.

I was talking to him this morning about it, since I seen him drive in to campus.

He said he only gets about 60 miles per charge at approximately 30-40mph.

Which is good for in town driving.

I'd like to build a vehicle that can last for about 8 hours of highway driving. Maybe I'll discover some new type of power generation. Meh, I can dream, can't I?

BTW: The solar car team's design, while efficient, isn't practical for routine, generic driving. When that competition converts to something that actually has some sort of practicality, I'll be interested.
