Jesus fucking christ, what the hell is wrong with parents nowadays? Take some responsibility for your goddamn children. Maybe if you didn't let a 14 year old obsessively play a rated M game, he wouldn't have done this

Yeah, Rockstar is to blame. After all, what were they thinking when they put in the scene where your character shoots his father, stepmother, and stepsister. wait a minute ......

Admitting that the way in which the psycho was raised was the problem is apparently some sort of taboo, since we never hear about it.

A dead household is a good household.

Who cares? This suit has zero chance of success.

You're kidding, right? We're living in a country where people can sue chains like McD's and win millions of dollars for spilling coffee on themselves....

Please.

For one thing, that suit was reduced was reduced to around 600 grand, which is reasonable. For another, I am sure that the twelve members of a jury who heard hours of evidence can reach a better decision than someone who read a two paragraph editorial in the "Missouri Miner."

Cases are not decided on a whim, there are many precedents that decided the Mcdonalds case in the plantifs favor and will decide this case in Rockstar's favor. Many people have tried to blame crimes on TVs, Comic Books, etc, and I doubt any of them have won money before. This case has no legal merit, and will be quickly thrown out.

600 grand is not reasonable. She spilled hot coffee on herself and somehow thinks McDonalds is responsible? The stupid bitch didn't deserve any amount of money. Again, it's another great example of modern American culture: Blame everyone except yourself.

Which was here first, real crime or video game crime?

Games are modeled after real life. The same artugument can be used for such topics as music, movies, and more.

Hope these "family members" have the money to throw away on this case.

So it is your fault if your kid plays a violent video game, but not if you are retarded enough to spill coffee on yourself... No, you, please, use you damn brain. $600k is a good figure for being clumsy... sound logical to me. Any resonable person only needs to hear "SHE spilled the coffee on HERSELF" and that maybe the coffee cup didn't "malfunction" in some way...

It is totally illogical to think that spilling coffee on oneself is anyone's fault but your own. I see way more validity in this lawsuit than in the McD's one. A videogame is made where you kill your family, this kid plays it and kills his family. But at the same time the parents are the real fault here, since the kid had access to the game, unless Wal-Mart sold it to him... then I could see it being Wal-Marts PARTIAL responsibility, but the fact is, we have slid down a slippery slope pushing the blame off on others, NOONE likes to take ACCOUNTABILITY for THEIR actions.

Sorry, but if you shoot your grandparents at 14 then you have issues other than the video games you play. I'm sure this would have happened whether or not he touched GTA. Good game, America. Take the easy way out and blame Rockstar rather than poor parenting and lack of giving a kid some psychological help.

I really do not have an opinion about the Mcdonald's case, I don't know enough about it. However, I believe the suit was over how hot the coffee was, not whether you can spill it on yourself. Coffee spilled on your pants should not be able to give you horrible burns. I drink my coffee fresh from an espress machine and I can spill it on myself without getting burned.

If you don't like hot coffee, don't go to McD's, they sell millions of cups a year, obviously many people like hot McD's coffee.

600 grand is not reasonable for spilling coffee on yourself and getting burned (it's been a long time since I've heard anything about this case, but if I remember correctly they were 3rd degree burns). A friend of mine got approximately the same amount after that friend's mother was killed in a head on with a semi when the semi was completely and totally at fault. I hardly think some burns from coffee can be called reasonable when the same amount was attached to someone else's life.

I hope this case gets thrown out. People need to stop pushing the blame elsewhere and admit they screwed up.

*sigh* Lawsuits aren't always about the plaintiff getting money either. My suggestion would be for people to think about possible ramifications of the lawsuit other than monetary gain. That is the real reason for the lawsuit...whether or not you would like to admit it ( I would liken it more to suits against McD's for health issues or against Big Tobacco).
