 Post subject: TV-Out with Linux Ubuntu

I don't know how to do this. I have an ATI card and just want to be able to watch movies off the computer on a TV. Has anyone done this?

Download and install ATI's propriatary drivers for linux, that should give you all of the functionality of your card, provided its a radeon 8500 or above.

You should be able to install the ATI driver using ubuntu and just plug it into the tv. I think it will just "work". There is also the ati control panel package that lets you do tv out: fglrx-control

This documentation makes it a lot more complicated than it needs to be, but here it is:

You only need to do steps 2,4,5.
