Does anybody know of a program that will do software mirroring (RAID1) for Windows XP?

I find it annoying that XP will natively do all of the usual RAID stuff (striping, spanning) except mirroring.

Isn't this taken care of automatically by the proprietary raid drivers? Never really used RAID, so not really sure.

Only if you have a hardware RAID controller. I did not buy one (they're more expensive) because I thought that Windows would take care of it.

this really doesnt answer any question sorry, but posing another one.. why are you trying to raid 1 anyways? do you have some server thats absolutely destined to be so important you need to mirror it .. and youre running windows?

Well, the last time I had all my personal stuff on one drive, I was a total dumbass and wound up wiping out that disk. I was able to recover only my music library from my iPod, and even that was only about 90-95%. It certainly wasn't Windows' fault; it simply did what I told it to.

I figure, why do regular backups when I can get something to do it for me (and what could be a more "regular backup" than RAID1)?

FattyBuddha: Thanks. I hadn't considered "hacking" it, all the Google searches had "program" in it.
