I'm working on a project that does some image analysis on an embedded computer, unfortunately it's very slow. Right now I'm working with a 200MHz machine but what I really need is about 800Mhz-1GHz. So I'm hoping somebody out there in seek42 land might know of an embedded system that meets the following:

800MHz CPU (or higher)
No harddrive (needs to boot off some kind of flash drive)
At least 32MB of RAM
Needs a way to interface to bare wires, 16 I/O lines ideally
Running linux would be a big plus

Anybody know of any embedded systems that fit that description?

On a side note, if anyone needs some embedded computers I've found this company to be great to work with and they have lots of good stuff for real cheap. http://www.embeddedarm.com or specifically these boards http://www.embeddedarm.com/epc/prod_SBC.htm

Might want to look at the Mini-ITX formfactor. You can get boards that support Pentium M processors.

You could do mini itx with a ide to cf adapter. I got one off ebay for like $10 shipped with a 32mb card, and I'm currently running m0n0wall off of it as my router. I've never tried it, but there is m0n0bsd as well http://m0n0.ch/bsd/
They recommend net45xx series embedded devices, but it looks like those aren't too peppy.
