I run Azureus 2.5.0.0 on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, and I have recently been having problems. I get OutOfMemory errors if I leave it on for any length of time, though I have 2GB RAM and 1GB SWAP, which are apparently not being used.
It has been suggested that the root of my problem is java, and I may need to change the cache and vm allotments, but I know nothing about this. Any experiences?
In my experience, azureus is just not a very good program. Every feature you could want, but its slow and uses tons of memory. It be nice if there was a program comparable to utorrent on linux. You might try ktorrent. Or, you could use the command line btdownloadmany.py in the background, and it will automatically download torrents that are saved in the folder you specify.
As far as the memory problem, you might try a different java package. If you are using blackdown jre or something, you might try sun jre. You can see what is installed using synaptic.
