ok i need some ideas here cause the wifi is getting worse and i think i am pretty computer literate but i am running out of ideas and i am tired of just blaming IT.

ok so i have a macbook pro

it used to work just fine under OSX and then i was having some issues with networking in leopard. i was not able to see other computers. so i reinstalled it. seems to work better than it did but not perfect. well now when i am on MST PSK i can be working just fine then it dies. gives me an error message about. "Your current session has been compromised and will now closed and not be available for a few minutes." Something close to that. I think its a little vauge but its OSX afterall. So many hours later after i switch to WPA i try and go back to PSK and it won't let me on till i reboot.

So i have bootcamp on my laptop. I run vista. Works great almost all the time. But recently i have encountered some issues. i never got WPA to work. so i always used PSK and it worked fine. but today with wifi changes i try and connect and it gives me some weird errors, and offers to repair it by resetting the IP which doesn't work. i can connect sometimes and most the time it says local only, sometimes it says limited or no connectivity which means the same thing. so i setup WPA according to the guide and it works. worked great all day. till now, now it does the same exact thing.

i can connect to routers that are here in building in peoples rooms and get on and i can connect at home. But sometimes people turn their routers off so i need to try and get this working. any tips?

Where are you having the problems? I have an iBook and have a terrible time getting connection in Comp Sci. The other day I was in the library and had no problems gettinga connection.

I want to make sure that since you are using Leopard, you have the latest updates. 10.5.2 makes some changes to the AirPort card. Under Vista, make sure you have the latest drivers for your laptop by using the Apple Software Update utility in Vista (if it is installed). Another thing to look at is to make sure that the WPA connection is not using the certificate authentication as there is a known issue with Vista and the certificates used on campus. As for the PSK not working correctly, I'm not sure why it's not working.

Edit: I just found that Apple has released an update to the AirPort Utility in Leopard. Not sure if it will help, but it couldn't hurt.

I had a horrible time getting wifi in CS with any laptop I have tried (macbook and Dell), I swear some of those classrooms are dead zones.

well i usually have my laptop in the RC where i live. But i have the same issue's every where. I do have all of the OSX updates. always keep myself updated. as for drivers in vista for a mac i have never gotten the apple update utility to find them. i usually have to search the apple site for hours or link through something like macrumors or thinksecret. I am at home right now coming back tomorrow for st pats and i have no problems at all.
