So, I have a laptop with no CD-ROM drive and no capability to boot from an SD-Card or USB drive (of any kind). I also will not boot using an external CD-ROM as I would have to buy a nearly $200 brand-name CD-ROM just to do it.
So, this leaves me with booting over the network using a PXE server.
My problem? I want to install Ubuntu (without installing it through Windows) but don't know how beyond somehow acquiring a ghost image of a fresh Ubuntu installation prior to the first reboot.
My laptop is a Toshiba Portege M200 and the way I currently reinstall Windows XP (Tablet PC Edition) is by a similar method.
If anyone has a ghost image of Ubuntu (prior to the first reboot) I would be greatly appreciative.
You said you can't do a USB drive but if you have a USB port, there is a way to do it.
I used an external hard drive enclosure and hooked up an internal CD-ROM drive to it. I know that there is a way to run Ubuntu off of a USB drive, but I'm not sure about installing from one.

Just Google "Toshiba Portege M200 Boot from USB" or something... it seems some people have found some really weird ways to make it work, but, using the same setups, I was not able to replicate the same results...
I just figured I'd make life easier on myself and acquire an Ubuntu Setup Ghost Image that was taken just before the first reboot...
If you're still looking for help setting up a PXE server to boot a ubuntu live cd off of, just let me know. I just went through the headaches of setting up something similar for pixelated. Ubuntu is really easy to do, they have all the stuff you need on the iso to do it. For something as large as ubuntu, You'll need to setup dhcp + tftp + nfs.
