A swampy is a person who... tends not to be very clean and because of this they often smell, is a computer game geek type person, and it's somewhat anit-social.
That's the nicest way I could think to describe it.

Not really limied to computer game type. Pretty good definition otherwise.

That's one reason why I'm not a dormie. If we have a smelly fuck pledge in our house, we give him a couple of chances to show that he's capable of showering and using soap on a regular basis. After that, we kick his ass out. Where does he go after that? Lovely TJ Hall.

Dormie? What are you implying? Because they don't feel the need to belong in a group, they don't fit in? Brotherhood? How about we call it "I cant be an individual so I chose to follow a group"
Dormies can make their own friends! They don't need to be obligated to be someone's friend.
But you can view a frat as a good thing, you do what you're told, follow the herd. Actually now that I think about it, yeah frats are a good thing, otherwise, no one would want to work in a cubicle!
Now is your turn to tell me all the exceptions and how successful people are that come out of frats, because I don't doubt there is. But lets remember all the non-frat sucessful people.
Frats are for those that need a group to identify with--whether you are a leader or follower is up to you, but youll find more followers in the frat scene. Dress the same way, act like everyone else, live in the same house, pretty much carrying the petty attitudes of high school with you to college. The lower classmen get hazed/beaten on etc, so the higher classmen can feel better. Its like an abusive relationship. You beat on someone, they will listen to you more. THe weaker the person, the more they respond to the "hazing".
Basically don't bash the DORMIES, we can choose our friends, you frats are told who your friends are...
umm.... who cares? I think you have some sand in your vagina.
and plus, we're bashing swampies, not dormies. The only reason swampies are dormies is because no-one else will take them.

umm. you know its much less expensive to live in fraternity, or sorority. On the UMR campus and many other places. I am saying this in a positive way so please don’t get on my case but many fraternities are a little more than a housing club. Ironically the smelliest people on the UMR campus I know of in the past years have lived in “fraternity housing”
If people would not stereotype every Greek house as being the same it would be a good thing.
Also (not so much at UMR) the people that give the fraternities a bad name are mostly the pledge classes.
dormie, while a kinda agree with you, I can tell you right now you are fighting a stupid battle. fratkids will come out of the woodworks to tell you how wrong you are using the most nonsensical thought process they can think up, and other dormies will come out in support using equally illogical arguments. sure, there may be a couple hidden pieces of logic along the way, but it's ultimately pointless for all sides involved. Plus, I love how these arguments always assume non-fratkids are dormies, as if independent housing didn't exist.
FOCUS:
in my personal experience, I think the dirtiest, smelliest people I have ever met at UMR were part of the St. Pat's crew. this is regardless of whether they're dormies and fratkids.
Of course, I love them, for without them, we wouldn't have nearly as much stupidity at St. Pat's, and God knows UMR's smart-people-are-a-dime-a-dozen campus needs some stupidity from time to time (that's also why we have the seek forums).

Whoa, what the hell is this? I leave for the weekend and this happens.
Ok, clarification is in order:
1. We are not bashing dorms, hell I used to live in Mac 1, still got friends there too.
2. No need to get ugly and bash the frats, obviously you have issues with them but there is no need to bring it to this level that "we are cattle", you dont even know me or my buddies, dont judge.
3. Trying to argue in a forum is pointless.
Miscommunication sucks, make sure you read a forum in its intirety (fuck spelling) before posting so this doesn't happen in the future. Maybe Swirls needs to watch his choice of words. Have a nice day.
