ok so heres the ?, is each computer hardware id limited to a 10mb bandwith, is each user limited to 10mb or is each port in the room limited to 10mb

i think its each hardware adress or user but my roomate thinks it might be each jack, so i was just curious.... thnks

Sup, I may be wrong, but I think each port goes back to a 10 mbit switch, which would be the limiting factor, so each port should be 10 mbit (if you're on a 10 mbit switch, supposedly there are a few 100 mbit switches, according to IT, but I've never seen any). Hope that answers your question.

hmmm, im not sure, id think it was limited to each account or to each hardware adress, and not to each individual port, but im not a networking guru, but i kinda know ma stuff, but these complex systems, i get all confused

its limited per port, ive had multiple computers (2 of mine, 1 of my roommate's) on a single port (uplinked to a 10/100 switch) and they all share the 10mb limit. each jack is like a single port on a 10mb switch.
