Have you tried timing something? Example, While your computer is doing nothing else plug the drive into a USB1.1 port and transfer a large file, then do the same with the USB 2. If it still does not seem to go faster, you should check your settings in the device manager for USB2 and the removable drive?

sounds right. usb 1.1 would have written the 700 mb file in about ... 40 to 45? usb 1.1 (speedwise) approximates the 10mb ethernet connection. usb 2 is half gigabit.

USB 1.0 1.5 Mbps
USB 1.1 12 Mbps
USB 2.0 low speed 1.5 Mbps
USB 2.0 full speed 12 Mbps
USB 2.0 high speed 480 Mbps
max theoretical speed I have not seen actually transfers this high for each type of USB.

just approximations, dude. I wasn't trying to be exact, so don't bite my head off for it. I know very well that USB never runs at it's maximum rated speed, and I also know the speed ratings for each type of USB. 2 megabits per second's difference isn't much when you can never get the full 10 out of your ethernet connection, just like USB 1.1 never runs at its full 12. Speaking out of experience, i never got more than 8.5 or so out of my ethernet, and USB 1.1 usually transfers at about 9 for me, so my approximations are fairly close.
