 Post subject: Windows shutting down

My computer starts up and then it says there is an error with an LSASHELL. THen it will randomly pop up and tell me that Windows will shut down in one minute. It counts down adn shuts off. Any suggestions. Thanks for the help.

I'd reinstall windows, and reformat if you can afford to do so without losing too much data.

...exactly...and patch it for once
the virus you got hit with had hit UMR well over a year ago... :roll:

Nope, it was more like 6 months ago.


It was summer of 2003, the day before the transformer thing blew up outside of town taking out power for 2 days. That morning, and a few days following the outtage, I was running around reghosting machines like crazy for one of the deptartments on campus.

the vulnerablity was the RPC service / LSA Shell.

symantec released their virus definitions on Aug 11, 2003.
