ok, i live off campus and i can't get outlook to send a message. it always comes up with an error that says the recipient was rejected by the server. i have tried severall addresses to no avail. i have also tried ssl on and off for smtp. i have used outlook express on campus lots when i lived in the dorms no problem at all. the only way i can get it to send is to vpn. then it sends. however i can check my mail all day long without vpn. what the hell?

you need to enable smtp authentication... not sure where it is in outlook, but just find a place under outgoing mail to enter a user/pass
