this is a laptop that I had bought off of a friend about 5 months ago..it was always working perfectly fine but i noticed it used to tend to get hot alot and i noticed there was a lot of dust accumalted by the fan..
so my friend suggested i open it up and spray the dust out with canned air(which i wish i never had done or got a professional to do) but i sprayed all of it out and when i put it back together the laptop would boot but the screen would not come on or sumthin...but now it wont turn on
well anyway i was told that the problem might be with bearings on the fan(whatever that means) when i was spraying it with the air..
anyway looks exactly like this one
Compaq Presario 2500 Model # 2538CL
Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz
1000 MB RAM 1 GB
60 GB Hard Drive
CD/RW-DVD
3.5" floppy
Ports: Video, Printer, NIC, Modem, IR, Sound, 3 USB, and PCMCIA
Windows XP Home SP1
Office XP Pro.
and please dont ask me to break it apart and sell for parts..i will sell the whole laptop all for $200 ( i know the ram and processor alone costs around 150) and in a week i will put it up on ebay

I paid $150 for a working one in a padded aluminum case last year.

Whthwk, where did you get that deal????
Thats a fucking hell of a deal. If i knew where to get a laptop like that for that price, i would definately jump all over 10-15 of them.
The battery was dead, the case was broken (it had been dropped), and the keyboard required replacing as many keys were broken.

ok i tried to turn it on yesterday..and the only thing that happened was the orange light (with the lighting flash) went on for a lil bit..i think that jsut indicated battery charging.
oh yeah the ram is 2X512 sticks=1GB, that alone is around 70 -100$ so so whats up with these bids under 100??..lool..it has processor, screen is perfect, has everything orginally included
ok let the biding officialy begin..i will put it up on ebay after sturday
no im not 100% sure about the new fan..that was jsut what my friend thought the problem was since that is when it stopped working..and u would not have to replace the screen there is nothing wrong with that its jsut sumthin wrong with the laptop so it wont turn on..
I would say if you are familar with that type of hardware you probaly can fix it but if you are not u could use the parts

Mind If I come take a look at it? Iv'e got an HP ze5570, which looks almost identical to the pic you've got. If enough parts are in common, I may buy for parts.
Edit: Kingston reccomends the same type of ram, and the proc/everything else seems about the same, so I propose a ram swap with you. I've got 2 X 256MB in my notebook (working). The swap only requires taking off one of the small covers on the bottom of the notebook, so no major surgery is needed. Whadda ya say?
No thanks, I dont want to swap a 512 stick for 2sticks of 256? but if you want to take a look at the laptop send me a pm..
as of now $100 is the highest bidder
