Prefer large party-sized speakers. Don't care how crappy they are, in fact I prefer really, really cheap ones.

Also an amp to power them. Again, cheaper the happier I am, all I care is that I could conceivably plugin my laptop or my roommate's Zune as the audio source.

I think the car amp takes DC in.. so, you got AC -> DC -> AC for it to work.. I saw a guy do it w/ a PC power supply, car amp, and car subs.. you have to do some extensive work on the PSU though

Sounds too expensive. I'd rather use tons of computer speakers. :/

From what I understand, it wasn't too bad.. don't need too much in terms of a PSU and all he bought was a pretty cheap amp.. then you can use them in your car when the party is over

Or you could jjust buy a converter. I doubt a pc power supply could put out the wattage and amperage to keep this amp running constantly though.

Rewiring the PC power supply is actually really easy/cheap. I bought a cheap 500 watt PC power suply and have it running 2 200 watt amps powering 2 Rockford Fosgate 12"s. it works really well and im using low end amps and power supply.
