My girlfriend just got a new monitor and she's wanting to hook her 360 up to it via vga. She's currently using the only vga port for her computer and needs a simple video card with dvi.

I'm not looking to put much into this at all, maybe 15 bucks.

Reply or PM with what you have.

She wants to use DVI for her computer instead of VGA. By doing this she can hook up her Xbox 360 to the VGA port on the monitor. Right now she is using the onboard video (VGA) on her computer, so she would only be able to hook up her computer or Xbox at one time.

Wouldn't it be easier to use an HDMI cable from the XBOX360 and run it through a converter to DVI? I mean, if the xbox in question is a model without an HDMI port, then disregard this post, but I think this option may be cheaper and have the same results.

It would be much easier, but sadly it does not have HDMI.

Do you need it to be pci, agp, or pcie?

PCI or PCIe, looks like I may have found one for 15.

Another option is to look for a adapter

VGA --> DVI adapter (use her current card)
HDMI --> DVI Cable (use her current card)

Both are pretty cheap on newegg, less then $10. It all depends on if getting a new Video card is better then getting a adapter.

I don't think an adapter would work. I may be wrong, but I think they usually will only work converting DVI (from the card) to VGA. I tried plugging in her VGA cable into an adapter I had from my video card and it would not fit in the DVI port of the monitor. It had some extra pins that would not work in the monitor's port. And like I said before, her xbox doesn't have HDMI so that's out of the question.

None of this matters anymore as I have purchased a card from someone and already set everything up. Thanks for the comments though.
