I need help. I want to learn to encode using DiVX and/or Windows media 8 at near DVD Quality. I found a copy of "A knight's tale" that is encoded in DiVX and is near dvd quality (2 700 MB files). what programs do you use, and more importantly, what settings. I've heard that Windows media 8 encoding is better quality and smaller file size, but takes longer.

FlaskMPEG ownz j00! But seriously, encode with FlaskMPEG or virtualdub. Be sure to get Divx 3.11 from off the network, and divx4.12 from http://www.divx.com. It's gay, but to encode with mp3 sound you need install 3.11, and the video looks 10x better with 4.12. select Divx ;-) as your output type. In flask you double click on Divx ;-) to set the bitrate and stuff. if virtualdub you select the 'configure output' button. actually, instead of explaining it all here, go to http://www.vcdhelp.com and look for Divx howto's.

Does anyone know how to turn a wmv into either a mpeg or avi?

i have this really kool vid and i would like to do a deinterlace on it so that it doesn't have this really ghey clipping on it.

and doom9 doesn't have any info on what i want to do.
