It sure is annoying, and that should be known. However, many of my friends attending different universities have it MUCH worse. This doesn't include CIS tampering with connections, just the connections suck. The fact that the CIS tampers with our connections is true bullshit (but I doubt that this has anything to do with that).

From what I've seen from previous years, its usually something down the line that causes the internet to stop working. Like fuckups at MU or with the phone company.

and the same is true this week. internet is going down often becuase of fuckups and hardware failures at mizzou, and email keeps going down because dell sold the school a couple of POS mail servers that keep fucking up ever 10 minutes. As for the post about "we spend so much money on internet access", you're paying for your education and housing, not for your internet access fool. You couldn't come close to affording what the school pays for bandwidth every month.

hmm... Where do you suppose the school gets that money from? Research projects? Doubt it, those usually help fund individual departments. Donations? Riiiight... besides, this *place* would get NO donations/research projects if there were no students. We pay for it. We pay with our loans, our financial aid, etc. The money at this school is here because of students. You could argue that MOREnet provides our bandwidth, but once again.. that costs money, and it exists for the universities to use only because they are an educational facility.

I have to respectfullyl disagree with you on that point. Dell didn't sell us POS servers at all. Over the years I have worked with plenty of Dell servers, large and small, with all kinds of configurations, and the only problems I ever encountered were caused by the software running on them. In our case, the server isn't the problem, the problem, IMO, is a combonation of the software on the servers and the fools that keep tinkering with them. If we really wanted POS servers, they would have bought Compaqs...:)

Great. This is really damn annoying. You'd think the 'geniuses' at CIS would fix this or something, seeing as how it's a daily freaking occurance.
