Is anyone going to Defcon this year? If several people are going, perhaps we could split a room fee, as well as gas money.

While we're on the topic of going places, who all is going to the million man lan? I'm sitting next to a few friends from home, plus I see that Snoop, Tiger 6 and MSEnds are going too. Is there anyone else signed up that isn't sitting in section 2?

if you dont know what it is.. http://www.millionmanlan.com
Im not much for huge organized lan parties like this, but thought this might be interesting... Door prizes consist of at least 10 top of the line laptops and more.

I went to quakecon last year. It was a blast. If you have the money to get there, its worth it. Quakecon was free, I don't know about the others. But they are definitely a great time.

Come to think of it, does anyone have a list of cons between, say, now and Defcon? There was Rubi-con last weekend, which I couldn't go to for various reasons, but I'd hate to think there's a con going on I'd like to attend and not know about.

What's defcon? some kind of lan tournament, I'm guessing from context...

These guys here run a lan party every month or two http://www.midwestfrag.org/, and they're local (sort of...Illinois area)

Pizzaguy: Defcon is basically a large gather of members of 2600 (an international hacker group) in Las Vegas during the summer. Crowds generally range from 1-5 thousand. More info is available at http://www.defcon.org.
NOT your typical LAN party ;)

Ok, here's the scoop.
DefCon is not sanctioned by 2600 but there tends to be much more partying and 2600 kids than actual information flow/fellowship but it is still well worth the time/money. (Think huge drunken party.) Anywho, there's an ACM group going and they have already filled up their room [update] I just found out that UMfuckingR has it's finals on the that Friday so I can't go[update] This can house 4 people and the total cost will be something like $258, which means only $64/person the entire time--nice!
