Did you notice the new UMR site is running PHP? How does campus support this?

Okay people, the old site is still accessable at http://campus.umr.edu if you liked it better. The old one was more geared towords current students, the new one is geared towards prospective students.

Now, on to the technical details. CIS currently has php thru cgi in testing, along with a few of the more popular associated libraries. Don't go running to the helpdesk asking how to use it, few if any of them know it's even there, since it isn't official, yet.

If you want written instructions and possible active help, go look at http://acmphp.cs.umr.edu . This is a completely separate php server, created and installed by ACM this summer. It's free, you don't have have to be an ACM member to use it. It was installed by ACM as a service to the campus before we heard about CIS putting their's in.

The two php services use different methods of implimentations, so use the one you think suits you best. The CIS php server runs through the cgi server, so you get the same performance you did with CGI. http://acmphp.cs.umr.edu is a single machine dedicated to serving only php pages.

If you do need help with the ACM php server, please read all the links on it's main page before asking any questions. If you need help with CIS's php server, well, good luck, cause it's not official yet.
