Calling all students interested in becoming involved in the political process from an enlightened and liberal viewpoint.

The Phelps County Democratic Committee has offered $200 to help start a chapter of the College Democrats at UMR. Vice Chancellor Steve Malott has agreed to be the faculty advisor.

If you are interested, you can email me at marust@umr.edu. I'll need your name and Student Number for the Student Activities Dept. Also, we'll be having a meeting the week after Spring Break to approve a constitution.

The College Democrats will work to help local and national Democratic Candidates, and will also serve as a voice for moderates and liberals on this campus and in this community.

I need to start a "College Students Who Don't Affiliate With A Party, But Rather With the Best Candidate" club.... hmm... but who could I get to be the faculty advisor... and who would join....hmmm.

I'd join, but I'm way more progressive than just about any Democrat. Besides, I'm transferring, so I wouldn't be of much help.

Yes, I am graduating this summer and leaving this fall. There are several others interested in this group. I'm just going to get the group started and pass along my contacts in the local Democratic Party.

If anyone is interested, or knows someone who would be, send them along to marust@umr.edu!!
