They've started coming in the mail, they're 2 decks in each box.

What's in them? (rare and uncommons)

I haven't got any yet. :(

I put my real address, and an address that is a little different than mine, but should technically deliver to the same place in the registration area. Hopefully, that didn't invalidate my orders.

They're 2 - 30 ct premade decks. Filled with common and uncommons.

They're the exact same thing they gave out at GenCon, must have been they're surplus.

I got mine in the mail today. I used to play MtG very casually and have some old cards. I don't know what version or whatever they're from. Can I play w/ these new ones? or are they too different?

If you are not competing in official tournaments, they should be fine. Casual play uses everything from everything. This isn't like pokemon where the Hasbro lost the license and all their stuff was declared invalid for league play. If you have serious questions, go to Eclipse on Pine St on Friday, that is when the weekly tournament is held and people will be able to answer all your questions and probably help you flesh out your deck.

These decks contain cards from 10th edition and Lorewyn/Shadowmoor sets. I think they are still Type-2, but there have been so many new sets come out lately that I have lost track.

I just wasn't sure if there had been changes that were major enough to make some editions incompatible with others in casual play.

Most people consider "casual play" to include all sets ever, since it's just for fun. The most recent set of Standard format tournament legal cards are 10th edition, then Lorwyn/Morning Tide/Shadowmoor/Shards of Alara/Conflux, and the new set coming out later this month, Alara Reborn.

Those cards in those packs will be legal through when another new set comes out in the middle of summer and invalidates 10th edition.

Anyway, I got the green and red decks. Anyone get a white? I'd be willing to trade my green or red one for it :)

And, as Twilyte said above, if you have any questions about this stuff you can go to Eclipse on fridays around 6pm, there's usually a lot of MTG players there at the weekly tournament. Or you can PM a player :D

I have a whole box full of cards in a closet back home from when I played in middle school. Don't think I've opened the thing in years. Anyone still play who might be interested in buying some (or all)?

That really depends on what all you have in those boxes.

I'll try to grab them when I head home next. I have no idea whats in it or if any of it is worth a damn, but I'll try to let you know and maybe you can come by and look at them.
