Hey folks, what are some computer science electives people have taken and enjoyed?
I've been looking at the list of what's available in the 200 level range (want to wait on three hundred level classes for masters degree, been told that's the thing to do), and it seems like the only electives in the 200 level range are...well...CS 285.
Hard to fill 9 hours of electives in CS (has to be CS) with one 3 hour course.
I recommend Automata - Wilkerson teaches it and the material is pretty cool. I think you'll have to take it for grad school here though, so you might wanna hold off on it if that's in your future.
Object Oriented Numerical Modeling I (CS 328) is pretty good as well. It covers UML basics, some OO principles, and C++ trivia. Some linear algebra is used for "testing" objects you create, but it's a fairly integral part of the class - I wouldn't be surprised if most of the time I spend on working in that class is applying the math. Point being don't take it if you hate math.
