So back in the day i really enjoyed the Aeon Flux cartoons, even though i didn't quite understand them. As such, I've been rather excited about the movie and seeing something that might be more enjoyable than the show was back then because of my age. But it would seem that Aeon Flux is not being viewed by critics, no screenings. My favorite website of websites as far as new films go, is rottentomatoes.com they give these awesome ratios between critics and fan approvals. it comes out tomorrow, so i guess i'll find out one way or the other if it is good, the last few movies to not having screenings had at highest, a 24% approval rate on rotten tomatoes, one landed a 0%.
If anyone goes to see it soon, they should shoot an opinion on here, i'm waiting till i go home this xmas break to see it.

I would say dont waste your money. I have seen 2 previews. The longer version in the theatermade the movie look retarded, while the short commercial on TV makes it seem entertaining.

Eh, stop bitching people. It's just a movie. Shut your brains off and watch it. No one here is Siskel or Roper, so you get the freedom of being able to watch a movie to be entertained. Just like how you don't watch a movie to really be taught something. You watch it to be entertained. If you watch a movie and don't find it to entertain you, then don't watch it again.

yes but many of us are also poor, so we like to be selective about when we spend our nearly 12 dollars after things like snacks and tickets per person. and from the reviews i've read, from both people and critics, the film is just plain boring.

1. Terribly shitty movies are being turned out by the boatload.
2. I'm somewhat convinced that all of this pop culture crap is actually making the populus significantly dumber.
I'm in wal-mart the other day picking up a few things for thanksgiving and I hear two cashiers talking in some of the poorest english I have ever heard. They were not immigrants, had no accents, but were carrying on a conversation like some of the parodies you see when SNL makes fun of hicks and rappers, only this wasn't funny, it was disturbing. The cycle of the american population is nearly complete in the eyes of the government. From ignorant masses in the times of our forefathers to intelligent, informed citizens in the 20th century and now heading back to ignorant masses. If you haven't seen a truly horrible movie that forced you to leave, despite paying 16 dollars for you and your g/f, then you don't know what I'm talking about. But trust me, I've done that to three movies and if I didn't, I'm quite confident that my head would have exploded from an ignorance overload.

Ok, we are talking about movies, not the dumbing down of the general populace. And incase you haven't noticed, Rolla kinda is a hick town (no offense to any locals). I mean, was in Taco Bell last night, and some guy was talking, and he had the exact same drawl as Slingblade did. Movies aren't enough of a corruption influence to blame them for the wonders of the American society of today. Hero-worship of these celebs and sports players, sure. But movies are just there to entertain us. Some do that, some do not. Aeon Flux might not be your cup o' tea, just as 8-Crazy Nights wasn't for me.

No, I'm talking about the population being force fed what is "good". Think about this, a decade ago, milli vanilli was humiliated never to be heard from again after it was discovered that they were lip-synching to someone else's voices. How is that markedly different from what happened to ashlee simpson? She cannot sing well, and because of that she used her digitally polished recording to improve her otherwise bad voice. The same can be argued for mrs spears, but she at least has the, "i dance a lot and get out of breath" argument. Simpson had no reason other than she sucked. Lets also not forget her shitty performance at the orange bowl. Typically in the pop culture world its one strike and you're gone, she now has two and is still around "singing". The corporate music industry tells us that ashlee simpson is talented and a "good" singer. Take away the million dollars of digital enhancment and we'll see how good she is. The point is, she should have been banished from ever making music again as milli vanilli did, and wasn't, because the people no longer decide what is good, MTV, VH1, CMT, and all the shitty clearchannel radio stations do. They throw whatever crap they have out there, say eat this bitches, you'll get nothing else, so you might as well like it. And like robots we say, "please sir may I have some more". This applies to movies as well. But this was the most glaring example I have at the moment. One more small rant, why have the white stripes become so amazing recently? I've been attempting to figure this out and as yet have failed. Meg is not a talented drummer, the 6 year old kid from school of rock played harder licks than she does. Hell I sucked at playing set in pep band in hs and I can play as well as she does. The sound is not revolutionary, nor are the lyrics. So why is the media hyping them as they did the strokes (who also suck in my mind) as the next nirvana, when they are hardly that.

If by "hyping them as the next Nirvana" you mean "hyping them as the next over-hyped mediocre band" then that sounds about correct.
If you don't like what MTV, VH1, etc. etc. sells you, then don't fucking listen/watch it. I don't. Every time I'm in St. Louis and someone has it on 105.7 The Point (rock radio station) I usually don't recognize a single song on it. Is it because I'm a musical elitist? Well...kinda yeah, but that's not the reason. The reason is because I can't stand most of popular rock anymore. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Find stuff you do like, and find more stuff that sounds kinda like that. Break the barriers that popular music has forced you into. pandora.com is a good way to find new music. So is joining a forum. musicianforums.com/forums is a good one.
Btw, this isn't directed at you LowMan, this is just in general.
