just curious, I was looking around and saw some of them. Is it like an ISO or other image file?

Yeh its an image, more comparable to .ccd I think. Usually there is also a .mds file with it I believe. One holds the data, the other directs your ISO program how to use it [like ccd/sub/img].

So to use one, I just tell my daemon to see it like a ccd or what?

an mdf is a compressed disc format. it goes along with an mds. it's like an iso, but can burn with original copy protection & such.

MDF files are Medium-Density Fiberboard. It's not compressed data, it's compressed [i]wood[i]. You build speaker boxes with it.

Tee hee.
