Hey Seek,

If anyone can post a link to where I can get ahold of Google Desktop Version 1 (I don't want/need version 2 or 3), I would much appreciate it.

I am most certainly off campus right now (St. Louis) so I'll need a URL that off campus can access.

Thanks.

Thanks for the effort. The deskbar isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I need the "Google Desktop." It takes up about 1/8th of the desktop and searches throught folders, Outlook, Excel, ect.

Let me know if you can find it.

Thanks

If you use Google Desktop, you give google the rights to your harddrives contents. Meaning available through thru their internet search engine. Also, more prone to government searches.

I'm using Google Desktop 2 (and still have the installer). Uncheck Google Desktop Preferences >> Advanced Features and you have nothing to worry about.

With Desktop 3, random people can't search within your shared content. Furthermore, you can specify what you want it to not index.

The EFF is simply wants the public to know that the federal government needs a warrant to get files located on your PC at home... wheras on a Google server they're "only a subpoena away".
