i have a DFI Ultra that i think might have just bit the dust, and ive been out of the loop for a while, so, UMR, Whats the best board for the buck out there?

also, does anyone have a 24pin powersupply unit (400 watts or greater) that they wouldnt mind letting me use to make sure it isnt a defunct psu?

Hey, DFI makes one hell of a board. You've probably got a pretty good bet.

For 939, NForce4 is a must. Either of the NForce3 chipsets are old tech--look for something with multiple PCIe slots, DDR2, etc.--they'll all be pretty standard on an NForce4 board.

If you find that your board is malfunctional, let me know--I like playing with broken crap. If you just want to upgrade and get rid of your old board, let me know--I like working crap to play with as well.

well, i think you'll need to give a little bit more information for "bang for buck".such as, do you plan to overclock? the DFI boards are very good at that, however some people have issues with compliant hardware. those boards can be pretty picky with what they take. i dont know if the 'ole dusty you have there suffered from that... what about SLi? no SLi can save some money. How much are you willing to spend also? AMD has a new socket and processor line coming out soon, so it may be worth the wait to upgrade.

Um, Socket 939 does not use DDR2. If I remember correctly, DDR2 will be implemented in a new socket with 940 pins, and will be the replacment of the 939 series.

i have an x800XL video card, and a 3000Venice core, so if speed is needed, i might overclock a tad, i have a heatsink capable of taking a bit of abuse.

again, if anyone has a 24pin psu, please let me know if i could borrow it?

I'd go with one of these:

DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 ULTRA-D

Asus A8N-SLI nForce4 SLI
