Obviously I'm a freshman by this very question, but can someone please give me a breakdown of all that goes on here during St. Pat's? I've heard a few different stories, as I'm sure will happen here, but the more I hear, the more I can tell for myself what's truth and what's BS. Would it be a reason to bring someone here if they didn't plan on drinking? Is there stuff for families to do (other than drink)? List some activities that go on if you could, please. Thank you.

Alcohol.

There's the parade and the crowning of the knights if you enjoy that sort of thing (usually the parade isn't too bad).

Then there's the games at the frat row fields. But, I don't find those too enjoyable unless you're actually involved. Watching them tends to suck.

My favorite part would be the four day weekend. Four day weekends rock no matter what the occasion.

Not really a family event, but if you brought a friend who did not drink there is always St. Pat's Alternative Programming put on by RHA. Happened last year and had a good turnout and this year should not be any different. A fun set of activities for those whom decide not to drink over Saint Patricks day week.

The alternative stuff put on by RHA is pretty good. They had a good comedian last year and they usually do other stuff too. Of course that doesn't mean that you can't do traditional St. Pats stuff beforehand.

Don't go to anything sponsored by TJHA if they have anything. I was bored last year cause my friends that normally throw parties had something else they needed to do, so my roommate and I went to TJHA's "alternative poker night" or something like that. They had beans for chips. I don't think I can say much more about the other wrong things that aren't good here in Rolla if you're not trashed, so it's beans, getting trashed - or do the smart thing and LEAVE.

For a week Rolla turns into an alcoholic black hole from which not even the lightest of beers can escape.

Yeah, that was an issue with the people losing the poker chips. Fortunately that won't happen again as we now have 10,000 poker chips. And they know where they are this year.
