So I've been playing for a good bit of time now, so I just bought a new gun, a mini mag. I've had a couple problems with it but since I'm not to familiar with the gun yet, I wanted to find out if anyone out there knows more about it here.
I'm running it on CO2 right now and it seems to freeze up some. Now I read that this gun does have a problem doing that pretty often off the stuff, but not as much as I seem to be getting. Ive taken it apart and put it back together, put the tank back in, and it still seems to be locked. So I dont know if its still frozen inside.
So, is there anyone around that has a compressed air tank that I can borrow to see if it works with that.
And if not, is there anyone around that might want to take a look at my gun? Thanks
First thing, you would be better off searching google for MiniMag troubleshooting ideas. As a former paintballer, I know that there are a plethora of websites out their dedicated to the MiniMag, it sorta has a cult following because of how old the gun is.
Second thing, I would try to upgrade to compressed air asap since it's a lot better for the higher end guns, they're more sensitive to the changes in the CO2 which only create more problems. (You hardly ever see a guy with an angel running CO2).
Things to do/check:
It sounds like the tank might have a bad stem. The freezing could be from a leaky tank. However freezing can occur in humid weather too, like we've been having lately.
Other things to do are to oil all the o-rings( tank, bolt, etc..). If they aren't oiled regularly they can crack and create leaks.
really, comp air would be much better for an automag. what is the system pressure supposed to be? i dont shoot an auto mag, but i know they dont have many moving parts, so having a fused piece is a big deal.
Mags run at 600-800psi. I also recommend you upgrade to a compressed air system, but mags will run on co2 (an expansion chamber is a must). How does it feel "locked"? If it is frozen you would the gun would feel very cold and you might see frost on the valve, but it always thaws out in at most a few minutes. Off the top of my head, I don't know why it would "lock", it's never happened to me.
/owned 2 automags and 1 rtmag...
//RT mags rock
///only on compressed air
////owns 2 cockers now (enough of the slashies)

I tried posted on that forum and got advice about it. I also played with it all saturday and for the most part, it didn't lock until the end. When I eventually went to a field to crono it I noticed that it wouldn't shoot at anything less then 330 fps. Fixion... do you want to take a look at it?

Sure, where do you live?
How far is the back of the regulator backed out? Have you tried backing it out some more?

Yeah, I have an Automag runing CO2 with an expansion chamber and this sounds just like mine. When it gets cool (~70 and lower) the chrono speeds start to get erratic and soon it's shooting 400 FPS and blasting paintballs into mist right out the barrel.
My guess is what happened the last time you played is that it was nice all day and cooled down in the evening. There's nothing wrong with your gun, it's just the price you pay for running CO2 in it. The pressure chamber regulator (I think that's what it's called) just doesn't like the cold of the gas. So, if you want it to be anything but a warm-weather gun, you gotta go HPA. That's what I'm saving for.
