Seriously, i'm tired as hell of all the people complaining that someone takes the time and initiative to maintain and even try and improve the community. If you are tired of the changes (which, by the way, I happen to like), then make a conscious effort to DO something about it, and don't just complain and throw insults. To those who are trying to help the community and aren't satisfied with the state of things, this rant is not directed towards you. I'm sick and tired of petty insults being thrown out by everyone who can't stand a little change and temporary instability.

Much agreed.

Granted, I liked the old layout better, but that's really just an aesthetic point.

As far as people being annoyed that Seek goes down more often than usual and there being ads on the forums, why are you bitching about something that's avaliable to you for free?

Do you pay to access Seek? No? Then calm down.

I bookmark a lot of computers that I find [CENSORED]. I tend to know who has a good selection of [CENSORED]. A lot of people where upset that they couldn't [CENSORED], when a simple visit to [CENSORED] was all they needed. Sometimes people just don't think outside the box. If the [CENSORED] isn't there, that doesn't mean you can't [CENSORED].

Oh, and I like the new layout. Seeing as blue is my favorite color, it is quite pleasing to the eyes.

I, on the other hand, am sick of people blindly defending every change (good and bad) that AJ makes to the [censored] aspect of Seek. The forum community aside, Seek42 is unique because of [censored]. The point of Seek42 is to reduce internal bandwidth by preventing the need to randomly (or structuredly) visiting computers (i.e. legocomputer). Most of the functionality complaints of Seek have been fixed (largely due to a return to Ryan's code and some nice improvements) and I personally have no problem with the instability, since these problems can be usually fixed.

And Seek was blue before AJ took it over.

No no no, you misunderstand me. Not blindly defending (that would be ridiculous), but supportive of potential change and pissed at those who offer no constructive criticism, only insults.

I respectfully disagree. While insults are not appropriate, I do not think it unreasonable that when somewhere inherits a great and working system that they keep running more than half the time.

If the improvements to seek are the cause of the problems, maybe a beta server is needed.

I do not think it unreasonable that when somewhere does work for free you don't complain.

Just because someone does something for free doesn't mean you can't have expectations for the job they do. People volunteer to do all kinds of work, and they are still held to standards.

I’m sure a lot of people would have been willing to take over seek when Ryan left. If the people currently running things didn’t have the time and know how then they shouldn’t have accepted the responsibility.

I don’t mean any personal attack on the people running seek, but the seek forums use to be a useful resource for me to see what is going on campus, sell items, etc. For the last few weeks this has not been the case, and I hope that situation can be improved because I would hate to see UMR lose seek. It is a unique and useful part of our campus.

Anytime someone says [censored] we realize that you cannot discuss [censored] things in this part of the forum, so [censored] shows up.

Whatever.

How about you form an intelligent thought of your own rather than relying on a pseudo-intellectual band's thoughts?
