I thought it was decently funny, original and amusingly self-deprecating, something I usually don't get from their stories. That, and I got a kick out of the tomb under the ME building. Were you offended that they thought Rolla was boring or something?

The better part was hearing people around campus going, "Did you know there's a tomb underneath where ME Annex was? I had no idea!!" ........

Personally, I just think the Miner is a waste of paper in general.

The word "bi-partisan" usually means some larger-than-usual deception is being carried out.

I agree. Also, did anyone else think that non-April-fool's anti-Mormon rant was one of the stupidest things they had ever read?

I never saw it, but I do love anti-religion rants.

Look, I'm all for anti-religion anything. I mean, I'm the one who wrote the letter to the editor after last semester's "Intelligent Design" topic on the politics page to own the two stupid girls who were writing about it.
HOWEVER, I try to never criticize someone's personal beliefs, and I definitely don't speak out about a religion I don't know much about. Above all, I don't pretend to know about a religion based on what I read in ONE book, which is basically what that stupid bitch did. If I based her intellect on the quality and content of her writing alone, she'd have to be one of the dumbest people I've ever seen.

You know, I have often wondered how people can't see the paralell between attacking a religion, and attacking a race/ethnicity. Just because you aren't a member, doesn't make the group wrong...
Get a life, and quit trying to insult religion all the time, it makes you look like an ass.

yea, I thought the Mormon article was a little bit over the top, with its sweeping generalizations, but much of the information in it was true, regardless of how crazy it sounds. Kinda reminded me of the of that south park mormon episode. Traditional Mormonism, as taught by Joseph Smith was pretty crazy, but if people want to believe in a religion whose primary beliefs have been proven wrong by numerous sources, then let them.
Most of the Mormons I have known seem to be outwardly nice people, (for the most part, but of course there are always the moderates in every facet of life) maybe seemingly sinister because of it in some cases, but they are just like anyone else, ive known some who are whores, some who are just as innocent as they can be. That article seemed to try to impress a fear of Mormonism to people, it is unfair to say they are rapists and murderers just because they are Mormon.

Who are you talking to? And I'd have to say religion and race are two very different things.

My best friend is Mormon, his family and most of the other mormons in our area back home are some of the nicest and most wholesome people i have ever met in my life. sure they are a little weird but i would rather be around some weirdness instead of shitty people that are just normal

I thought the article made a fairly clear distinction between Mormonism as a whole, and the polygamist sect. However, I agree that making sweeping statements based on one book is kind of a stretch.
