Rolla likes to bone people in the ass. Why did you expect this to change? I think every year I've been here there has been some sort of tuition increase. Either direct or indirect.
Yeah, $278 a credit hour for engineering courses. What crap.
Compare to KU with $192 a credit hour for engineering courses, or
Compare to Iowa State at $204 a credit hour for engineering courses.
All of those are in state...but our tuition is still 42% higher than KU's, and 36% higher than Iowa State.

*shrug* when I went to interview at Sandia... it's funny, they didn't mention ISU... or KU.... just how they liked hiring UMR grads over MIT grads (in all seriousness).
So I'll pay a couple more $1000's now, consider it an investment.

Yeah, it's cuz the Missouri voters put a law into effect where MO could only gather so much taxes. (I think, I should check this)

I know it is in investment, but KU and ISU are both other state-funded Midwestern universities. ISU's engineering programs are ranked about even with most of UMR's (while KU's are so-so). I'd say the problem is a lack of state funding, which is more of a political issue. But almost $300 a credit hour for in-state tuition at a public university is well above what colleges in many other states charge.
Yeah, this is bullshit. Each year, I've been taking out more in loans to cover the increases. Freshman year, my loan was $15,000 and now I'm taking 20 grand for junor year. Granted, some of that is to furnish a house, but still. I could probably have gotten away with 18 if they didn't keep raising tuition.
I also bet dorms and meal plans are going up too....glad I'm moving out.
It would just be nice if they correspondingly increased financial aid.
They did recently. When I first found out about the Chancellor's scholarship a couple of years ago, it was for $10,000 a year. When I got it, it was increased to $12,000, and they actually give me $12,500. Meh.
the whole school is over-priced and over-rated.
it's guaranteed that tuition will be higher every semester.
why?
because they can.
thanks for screwing me yet again, umr.

And yet you're still here. Speaks wonders for your mental acumen.
And tuition will be higher every semester at the very least for a little thing called inflation. That and MO state cutting educational funding.

Blame your parents. Basically, Missouri can't cut programs, and can't raise taxes. Or you can blame Bush if you want for cutting education. But if you blame the school, you're retarded.

Disregarding tution, I think its ridiculous that room and board for 8-ish months costs the same or more than rent on a house and everything else for a year. Shouldn't running a dorm and providing cafeteria style food be less per person than living in a house?

Depends on if you have a group held hostage that has to pay that money...
