Who do you guys go through for renter's insurance, how much is it, and what coverage do you get? Also, what do you have to do when you're physically in the insurance office (i.e. list everything you own so it's covered, only items above a certain dollar amount, etc.)? Thanks for the help in advance.
when i looked into renters insurance i found out my parents home insurance cover my belonging even if i dont live there as long as im a full time student. Thats through statefarm.

Ditto. My parents homeowners insurance covered my sister when she lived a block away from the WTC and the smoke completely destroyed all her crap, then they covered her stuff again when she lost even more crap when Katrina destroyed it. They don't cover the actual building, that's the landlords problem, but they'll cover your stuff.

Her stuff didn't happen to be in the shuttle when it blew up, too, did it? Good lord, those are some insurance claims from hell. Thanks for the heads up guys. I'll be getting married next year, so I'll need to find an insurance company then, I guess, but I won't have to worry about that for a while. Thanks again.

No, but our insurance company dropped us after those 2 claims and hail damage to our house requiring a new roof
But yeah, she moved to New York for undergrad in August 2001, then moved to New Orleans for law school @ Tulane in August 2005. Shitty luck indeed. But now, she's transferring to Wash U in STL to finish up law school, so the joke in my family is that in September, St. Louis will get that huge earthquake they've been predicting for years.

Yea, I think I will be avoiding that place until she leaves.
