Does UMR put on a fireworks show this year?

If I'm not mistaken, it's for the summer camps.

When I stayed in town for summer classes two years ago, they had a display at the end of the week for four or five weeks. Those weeks happened to coincide with summer camp weeks. Putting two and two together you get UMR showing off "teh shiny" to prospective freshmen.

I don't think my Intro to Engineering class got fireworks waybackwhen (:(), but that was before the pyrotechnics classes were formed.

Not for the Fourth, but we do put them on for the Intro to Engineering and Explosives summer camps. As far as I know, the next fireworks display at UMR will be on the 10th, I know it will be pretty small, and I'm pretty sure that its the last one for the summer.

If you want 4th of July fireworks in Rolla you have to go out to the Lion's club park around 11 back by the lake past all the pavilions, which will be filled with carnival things.

So tell me more about the fireworks on the 4th. Who puts it on?

The Lion's club of Rolla sponsors it with their carnival. They actually have fireworks on three different nights, but there's one big show (I don't know which night it is this year). Premier Pyro puts it on, and it's usually a pretty good 15-20 minute show. It can't compete with Columbia's Fire in the Sky (which Premier also puts on), but it'll be well worth your while because Premier is known for putting on some awesome shows.

The firework show at the Lions park is put on by the Lions club. It is also shot by people from the Lions club. There are fireworks on 2 nights, the 2nd and the 4th I believe are the dates for this year. I agree it isn't the greatest show that I've ever seen because it's all hand fired and they don't fire shells off quick enough, but it's still pretty good. On a side note the Columbia show doesn't even hold a candle to the Jefferson City show. I worked on the Jeff City show last year and we were laughing at the Columbia's show. They had a budget rental truck, we had a semi. Also we were the only show in the state last year to fire 16" shells.

I got the pleasure of watching the show in StL this year. Sat right underneath the arch and watched all 30 minutes of it. I have seen many fireworks shows but that one destroyed all of the others. I was rather dissapointed with "Fire in the sky" last year. It was pretty cool to just lay out on top of one of the parking garages and watch it though.

Yea, I proposed during that show last year. It was a lot of fun. I watched them from "The Top of the Riverfront" restaurant on top of the millenium hotel. It was the most expensive meal of my life, but well worth it for all that happened afterwards.
