If you want some really good beers, go to Chef's Pantry, on 63 behind that gas station across from wal-mart. They're next to hallmark and that shoe store.

I tasted budweiser at last years Alumin Association graduating seniors banquest, and it tasted like someone pissed in champagne. And champagne doesn't taste that great to being with. So I stuck with red wine - it's good for my heart and goes great with steak and pasta with hearty red sauce, both of which I try to eat a lot fo.

But I was in Chef's Pantry, and they had some scottish ales. I'm part scottish, so I gifured hey why not. I also tried some irish stuff. Wexford Irish Cream Ale is pretty good, very creamy and buttery. But I could pass on it. Blackwatch Stout was pretty good, as was Beamish (my previous favorite - had covvee and chocolateflavors, neither of which I can have so I really liked that). But then I tried Belhaven Scottish Ale. That is the best! If you want some really good ales, you have to try Belhaven. Also the Twisted Thistle (India Pale Ale) is pretty good and prety strong too!

I usually buy Budweiser in glass bottles because it is cheap and dosen't really taste that bad. I prefer better beers though, but they are more expensive. I've got some Newcastle Brown Ale and some Sierra Nevada Wheat beer in my fridge now, along with some Saranac Pale Ale (which is VERY hoppy, unlike most other pale ales such as Bouleverd). Chef's Pantry has a nice selection of imported beers. If you want something uber-dark, get some Spaten Optimator. Its around 7% alcohol, made in Munich, Germany, and very dark. I had a pretty hard time drinking just one bottle of it, but the normal Spaten beer is also pretty good.

It's not like it's rare or anything, but Boddington's is mighty fine.

Beast is always a good after dinner beverage, for us classy folk.

They also carry the three publicly-sold varieties of Chimay. Tasty Belgian Trappist beer...mmm.

Doesn't Chimay technically fall under the Trippel category? I'm getting spoiled out here in PA with the selection that I can get my hands on, but Chef's Pantry is amazing. So my recomendations for beer from Chef's Pantry:

Pyramid Apricot - Mostly for the non-beer drinker. The apricot flavor overpowers the beer for the most part but it is rather refreshing none the less.

Rogue Uber Pilsner - For the typical American beer (mass produced pilsner i.e. Bud, Miller, Coors). It's a good starter for someone willing to branch out and try more complex beers. Little hoppy fiinish but perfect for a hot afternoon either way.

5 Barrell Pale Ale - Really great hoppy beer. About as good as you can get with a pale ale.

I pretty much recomend anything from Flying Dog and especially Rogue.

Hitman is right about the Apricot Beer...really good stuff...not much like beer either.

I would also suggest the Chocolate Stout from England? it is like Guiness with a chocolate aftertaste...at least imo.

Any belgian beer I have had has been delicious...Duvel is a really good golden ale.

And Peroni is good...at least to me

Real men drink Steel Reserve. On a recent trip to Chicago I was able to find it in 40 ounce bottles. I bought 2 @ $1.79 each. It actually tastes much better in a glass 40 bottle compared to the can. And after drinking one, I was intoxicated.

I've also had the Triple Export version before (found it in Georgia, but its only avaialbe in 5 states, sadly Missouri isn't one of them). Its actually fairly good. Dosen't have the typical high gravity bite that the reglar Steel has...much more drinkable.
EDIT: I'm not saying this stuff tastes good. It tastes like shit. More of a novelty because of the dirt cheap price and high alcohol content.
