I'm not in the biz, but consider myself and expert in the situation.

While this is normal, you also got lucky. The only logical reason was that the parking lot guy finally got laid last night.

You don't get charged for a warning. It says warning on your ticket. Hence you did not get charged. Crazy huh.

My first "offense" (parking backwards in a meter-only lot?!) cost me $10. Some warning eh?

That is because you actually parked your car wrong. They only give warnings if your car is in the wrong spot. It is their way of letting off people who may have a special case (late one day, not from rolla, lost, etc.) not for those who park backwards. But don't hat eme, I don't make the rules (or enforce them for that matter).

I thought you could park backwards at meters though, just not in regular spots :?

Oh well in that case, you must have had good karma.

And devil, I have no idea what the exact rules are about backwards parking. I thought it was only certain lots were they disallowed it. But I don't have a car down at rolla, so I have never had to worry about it.

If there is no sign on the meter then you can park backwards. It's bs if they give you a ticket for that.
