I would've expected it to be a crocodile.

You can't say you didn't see it coming.

Eh, still feel sorry for the family. He was starting to do safer stuff so he could start including his daughter.

Oh, no, I didn't mean that, I meant that I wasn't expecting him to go in something like a car accident.

He wasn't in a car accident....he was diving and got stung by a stingray

and that's why she wasn't expecting a car accident. I wonder how things would've been if he had went in something "safe" like tripping on a wet surface. That would've been ironic.

Well when you play with fire . . . still, he seemed like a nice enough guy.

I hate to come off as crass here (but it's going to happen anyways), but who cares? The guy died. He might have been a family man, he might have advocated for environmentalist causes, and he might have been a nice funny guy, but who cares? People like that die all the time, why does everyone care SO MUCH now that this guy kicked the bucket? Because he's famous?

Not because he's famous. I wouldn't give a rat's ass if Tom Cruise died, or Paris Hilton, or Regis, or George Clooney. Hell, there's some famous people that I would probably cheer if they died *cough*SeanPenn*cough*

Steve Irwin was a likeable guy. He was just so damn excited about everything. He was always smiling, and I like people who smile. So many people would be so much more popular if they'd just stop scowling.

Yeah, he was an environmentalist... but who likes Al Gore? Nobody likes Al Gore, not even his own family. Plenty of funny people are disliked. I think Chris Rock is much funnier than Steve Irwin was, but I wouldn't be quite as sad if he was to die. Not that I dislike Chris Rock, that was just an example.

I guess what I'm saying is that it boils down to his personality. Even if you didn't like nature shows, even if you wear alligator skin boots and eat cute fuzzy animals, even if you disagree with him, you liked Steve Irwin.

Does richard simmons fit into this catagory? I liked the croc hunter, he seemed like a genuine guy.

I think that's why people are having more emotions over his death than anything else. I was more touched because he was trying to play it safe for his kids so he could be a good father and get them interested in his work more than anything else.
