What is there to do on a Friday night @ UMR? I was sure I could find something, but I was wrong. So what do you guys do, and do you have any suggestions?
Please don't say "Do homework"....and why does everyone go home on the weekends?

Mmmm Beer....
And don't bitch about not being 21. If you cannot find someone somewhere that is 21 and willing to do you a solid, then that could be a symptom of your boredom problem.

Yes many people do go out and drink and socialize. If thats for you it can be a great time. We have a few bars. (Grotto, All-Stars, and the new Club Rolla has opened.) If you don't care for bars, make a greek friend. They are not as bad as many would have you think. Gasp, many are actually really cool guys.
If that is not for you rolla has a skating rink, go kart track, soon to come mini golf, bowling alley, parks, movie theatre, and other things. Also Res-Life will more often then not have a program of some sort to spend time on a Friday as well as many other days of the week.
I know this is going to open up a whole new can of worms but really Rolla is what you make of it. Both Res Halls have a sand volleyball pit, and at the Quad especially if you get a few people going then it will fill quick. Just a suggestion, but if you have the mindset there is nothing to do this early in the year, you are doomed to a school career of boredom.
Edit: Wanted to expand more on the drinking aspect.

Rolla has a town pretty much sucks ass. Its what you make of that shitty town that makes rolla great. Go out to a state park and burn shit. hide alcohol bottles in the recycle bins of the dorms so the duty team has to do work(not cool if the duty team is good people). take your mattress and surf on it down the stairs. find a party. Somebody somewhere is selling cups for 5 dollars with a tasty beverage in them.

When I lived in my dorms one of my favorite passtimes was crashing the major greek parties. Homecoming, St. Pats, Greek Week Closing Games, Halloween...
All of them have excellent stories with them, and made for a very very entertaining night.

Liquor and Anime Club.
or if you're really bored, my friends and I used to research abandoned towns, cabins and graveyards within 30 miles of Rolla and then go and scare the shit out of each other. . . . bunch of damn cowards.

Rolla sucked and was boring, until I started drinking. Its sad that it is that way, but many people I know have had similiar experiences. Alcoholism can be fun.

Make some friends and hang out, get into trouble, whatever. There are like 5,000 people at this school, so chances are there are people out there bored like you wanting to do stuff. You will see as the semester progresses, there will be more stuff to do and more people staying in Rolla. If the dorms are too rough for you, you could always look at going Greek.
