Everywhere I've looked confirmes that Windows XP can handle up to 4Gb of RAM without a problem. However, Windows XP Pro SP2 (32 bit) only recognizes 2.37Gb on my system. Sandra provided the same result. I tried adjusting the RAM timings and speed, but it didn't help. Each of the sticks correctly displays 1Gb when used individually.

Can you get a Linux boot/live CD to see all the RAM?

what motherboard do you have? what is the maximum your board can handle? are you using high density ram in low density slot (i440BX chipset)? are you using double-sided memory in a single sided configuration (nforce1).

check page "2-16" of your motherboard.
Quote:
This motherboard does not support memory modules made up of 2048 Mb chips or double sided x16 memory modules
you sure your memory is correct?
also look at 2-17 through 2-20...I don't see your memory in the table. Have you tried various channel configurations (two sticks in single channel...two sticks in dual channel, three sticks in dual channel)

I beleive the 4 gigs also includes any video/audio memory. How much do you have? I'm not sure if it includes cache or not.
actually, that is pretty close to the truth. I did some more digging on google and tons of other forums. This mobo seems to have issues with system memory in SLI systems.
