Not much of a tank. It's just a tracked go-kart. If he added 1/2 inch steel armor all over it, or even thin gauge steel with some ballistic weave in between... then he could call it an armored tracked vehicle, or armored personell carrier. He'd need a cannon for it to be a tank :D

I just got my Grainger catalog in the mail. There's a 10ksi steel ball valve in there. We can build it. We just might not be able to pay for it.

A go-kart, with an old big block V8, welded steel pipe frame, cheap 12 gauge steel sheet body, and a 10 ksi air cannon firing... giant potatos? Canteloupe? Flaming tampons?

If you install some netting you can actually take these into Paintball Scenario games. Just mount a quad mounted gun platform or some bays on the side to shoot out of.

They have these all the time in those 24-48 hour Scenario Games like D-day or other 1,000+ player battles.

Way back in the day, I think my sophomore year. That was about 6 years ago. My roommate, Jason, wanted to build a potato cannon. But instead of hairspray, he wanted to use CO2 gas. I helped him with the gas, using 12 gram cartridges, so one cartridge would launch a potato. Turns out, it expands too quickly and liquifies, kinda pushing the potato out with a "phoot" and then a bunch of steam.

So they decided to pull out the cartridge holder and use hairspray instead. They installed a grill sparker to start it, but they needed something to plug the hole where the cartridge holder was. His girlfriend left her purse in his car (or her car, can't remember). So they got a tampon out of her purse, and used that to plug the hole after spraying hairspray in it.

When they set it off, the potato didn't go anywhere, but the tampon flew about 40 feet, flaming, across the road. Pretty funny at the time.
