Well isnt it fun to have power go out at an Engineering University where 80% of the professors do Powerpoint slides or use the projector..

The campus is just pulling more power than ever and the system was not ment to handle that much power. On top of that they are most likely not maintained strenously. In the next 5-10 yrs this will be happening nationwide.

Therefore... invest in companies that make backup generators! WOOHOO capitolist market!

As someone who is in charge of maintaining my companies' dozens of 69k through 480 mine/plant transformers, I think you are terribly mistaken about them not being maintained. The power companies most definetly are doing this in Florida.

Power consumption is lowest this time of year because the weather is closest to the desired inside temperature.

What I think is great is that the whole time the power was out, the network was still up. Shows me that we definitely have our priorities straight here. :D

Is that only in certain buildings though?
Because the wireless was not up in G-9 HSS, but I have never tried it there before.

And the wireless goes down in Fulton.

Not with all those iron workers sucking up massive amounts of juice with their welders.

Diesel generators keep the datacenter going during power outages. Obviously, it would be very bad if all of the servers suddenly lost power while in the middle of writing files or something.

No doubt. Surfing the web on my laptop in the dark in CS 213 was quite an experience. I've never seen it so empty during the day.

What is also not fun is having 4 out of 5 classes in rooms without windows when the power goes out. There is no emergency lighting or anything in those rooms I have classes in McNutt w/o windows. What Mizzou architect decided that?

We didn't have any windows in our hs either. It was kinda werid, but at the same time it didn't really matter unless the power went out or there was a fire
