People with kids have enough to worry about. Kids don't have enough to worry about which is why they invented school. Now everyone has more than enough to worry about.

What if the kid is being deliberately lazy and won't get around thus making the parent late? That's what my sister did to my mom... And what's keeping the parents there? I'd laugh in the secretary's face and walk out.

What exactly is the penalty if you don't show up as a parent? Will they expel you or something?

The school system should have no ability to punish parents, It is bad enough that they can harass kids. They are not the police and have no authority.

I'm going to risk getting flamed (which I will, it's seek42) and say that I can actually see some reasoning behind this and think it is a step in the right direction. The general complaints about youth today are because of irresponsible parents. Kids who grow up without having any expectations or rules turn out to be adults that are twice as irresponsible as their parents were. Kids who grow up having everything given to them and haven't even had a job end up bestowing an even worse image on their own kids.

Do I think it will last? No. Do I think the school has any way to keep the parents in the gym for 20 minutes? No. But at least somebody is realizing that parents are why kids end up the way they do.

I can understand the reasoning, and I am glad to see someone actually holding parents accountable. As for enforcement, it looks like a private school, so i'm inclined to believe that expulsion is an option. It would not fly with public schools.

Overall, I think it's an interesting idea. If the parents of today can't be responsible individuals, what hope do we have for their children? I think it's sad that this is what it has come to though.

Yeah, I am sure being 30 minutes late to kindergarten is really going to mess up your kid. How horrible of the parents.

Look at the philosphy section of their website:
Quote:
Rather than being teacher centered, this kind of school provides a democratic atmosphere that stresses learning as an interactive process.

What a crappy school.

[sarcasm]
at least they don't play dodgeball or red rover! competition hurts kids feelings and helps prepare them for a world of cut-throat capitalism, unlike the happy, pleasent, [hypocritic] utopia that we liberal [hippie douchebags] want to [force upon] transform america democratically!
[/imitating douchebags]
