Okay, my hair is getting riduckolus. Anyone know of a good hair salon in town (not including Great Clips, if there is one, thanks though) that does hair for guys and gals?

Thanks!

There's the Modern Barber Shop on Pine St. I think they mostly do guys though. There is a Salon above West of Italy next to the Smoke Shop on 8th St. just off Hwy 63.

My wife goes to the hair salon person that's now over the restaurant West of Italy (same as the one Snotcat is talking about). I don't know the name of the store and my wife's asleep. I'll edit this post tomorrow after I've asked her. My wife likes the lady, the hair person isn't the overly gossiping type.

Did that, but also wanted some positive feedback first. Didn't want to walk up to some whacko with rented space and say "Please massacre my hair."

I know exactly how you feel, I'm VERY particular about my hair. I found a guy, Daniel Paul, he's from Rolla, he has worked in LA, NYC, Dallas, among other places. He moved back here last year when his mother was sick, I loved the way he cut my hair and would highly recommend him. He's appointment only, so you would need to call him for an appointment, 308-0069. His salon is in downtown on Rolla St.

Favorite haircut quote:

From an interview with Italian pro gamer Stermy.

Streetrunner: You have worn this hat in tournaments that says DeeJay on it. What is that and do they sponsor you?

Stermy: "...Here is the answer: I usually wear the hat when I’m away from home for a long time and my hair grown too long that I can’t fix it in a way that I like or I feel like not doing it when I get up. For example: this year I’ve been in US for more than 2 months and right before LAN war I had to go and cut my hair, but I didn’t get the job done as I wanted so I wore the hat for that event and the one after it and waited to go back home and cut it here. Just one thing: if you are Italian, don’t cut your hair outside Italy."

That brings about another question, why would you tip the person who cuts your hair? You tip a waiter/waitress because you are paying for food, and they provide a different service, but with a hair cutter, you are paing to get your hair cut. You tip a bellboy/valle because you pay for the hotel room. Am I totally wrong or what?

I never knew you had to tip until I went out with a friend to get our hair done and she asked me why I didn't give one. I had never seen my mother tip, so I had no idea... and after that, it was hard to remember. I felt like an ass when I forgot.

When the people own the place (Dave at Dave's barber shop, for example), I never tip, since the whole price of the haircut goes to them.

However, at a place where the barber doesn't own the shop (great clips, or other nicer places), generally the person only gets a small percentage of what you pay for the haircut. So, if they do a good job, I tip.

Yeah, I'm pretty much that way too. Back home we have a place called "The Cutting Room." It's owned by a guy who used to cut hair at Great Clips, but he left because they would do shoddy things like dock pay if you didn't finish someone's hair in 15 minutes, things on that order. So, over there, I tip simply based on principle. They do a fine job (if it's not right, they won't rush you out the door) and are lively and don't feel constantly pressured. Places like that I tend to tip.

I get my hair cut back home. I never knew that I was supposed to tip until my mom had to pick me up one time. Before I could drive she paid, and after I drove she just gave me money. Her rule of thumb was tip if they give your hair a wash and gel. If it is just to trim up everything, it really isn't necessary.
