if i order a new monitor off newegg, should i have it fedex'd to my dorm address, or my St. Louis home address
i'd like to get it ASAP, however i worry that TJ might loose/break/mishandle it. my roommate's grandmother sent him a package and it took over 3 weeks for TJ to get it to him, although the track no said it had been delivered in 4 days.
the problem is... if i mail it to my house, i may end up waiting just as long.
so... is it safe and fast for me to have fedex ship directly to my dorm?

When I was in the dorms, I never really had any problems getting things shipped to me there, so I wouldn't be too worried (and I had a number of expensive items from newegg.com shipped there).

You might see if you can pick it up at the FedEx center, if you have a car.

Never had any problems when I had stuff shipped to TJ. You're probably better off getting it shipped there; someone's always there to accept the packages and TJ is classified as a business in Fedex's world.
Small horror story. I had a monitor shipped to TJ, and they wouldn't give it to me because no one apparently did the mail that day, and the desk attendent said I couldn't have my package without a packing slip, and that she couldn't give me the packing slip. After talking to Danna(sp?) I got everything worked out and got my monitor. That is the second time I have had problems with packages at the front desk. That means I am 66% unsatisfied with their service.
Are you a moron? TJ doesn't "get things to you." The mail service (whether it's UPS, FedEx, or USPS) delivers the shit to the front desk, they log it and make package slips (most of the time on the same day) and put it in your mailbox so that you can get it and go give it to them in exchange for your package. The most handling they do is setting it in the back room or whatever.

I've never had any real problems shipping to the quad.

I am not a moron. The front desk attendent (or whoever does the mail) failed to give me a packing slip twice. The first time I did not actually have a tracking number because it had sent back something to be replaced (stereo digital control unit). When it got back to Rolla I was never given a package slip to give to the front desk. After a few phone calls I learned that it had been sitting behind the front desk for two weeks.
The second time I saw on my ups tracking that the package had been delivered with comment front desk. I waited till 4 when the mail is suppose to be put out. No packing slip. So I waited at dinner and checked at 530. No packing slip. I asked the front desk attendent if i could get my package, and she told me no because no one had filled out the packing log. So my package was there but they refused to hand it over because they apparently were too lazy to fill out the package log like they are suppose to.
I did have a package of stuff that my mom sent me last year and I got that no problem.
