If there's anything the election of 2000 taught me, it's that voting doesn't matter.

And yet, it's attitudes like this that allow thieving politicians to exist in the first place.

Politicians wouldn't be quite so thieving if people would stop voting to tax things they don't like. You don't like smoking - I don't know whether you smoke and are trying to quit, or what. So you want to tax it. What about when people want to tax something that YOU like? That's what taxes always are, they're always taxes on SOMEONE ELSE until it gets expanded.

Funny story, way back in the Spanish-American war, a tax was levied on telephone service. Since most people didn't have it at that time, it was one of those taxes on SOMEONE ELSE. Of course, the tax was never repealed, so you're still paying a tax for the SPANISH AMERICAN WAR.

That's why I never, ever vote for a tax increase. I don't care if you're taxing child molesters to pay for wheelchairs for burn victims, I'm voting down the tax.

That's my opinion.

So let me get this straight....if they don't get enough money for these programs through the cigarette tax, they take it from someplace else....

I like how I see all these signs saying OMG tax increase 468,000%? That's preposterous! Vote no! Yet they don't say what the tax was before, or what it's on.
