Channel 2 was also talking about it, but someone from KUMR called in and said all that is known is that a large part of campus is blocked off. Basically, He said so far everything is just rumors, might be a chemical spill, might be a standoff, no one knows. I don't know what the hells going on.

I came home from work and found campus surrounded by the law, I even saw a vehicle marked Rolla Homeland Security. Anyone else know that we had a Rolla Department of Homeland Security?
Watch fox 2 news at 8:30 for the press conference. Some kid apparently threatened someone/something in the building early this morning and there was a standoff until about 7 when he was apprehended. No other info has been released. Classes are cancelled until 10 this morning.

Mary Helen Stoltz keeps calling Channel 5 with whatever she can so that's the channel I have kinda kept my eye on.
I'm going to come back at 8:30 when they are planning on giving a press conference and find out what's going on then.
Also, why wouldn't we have Homeland Security? We have lots of chemicals, a Nuclear Power Plant, and a bunch of horny (and mostly drunkard) male engineering students.

Right now the people out there are doing a decontamination process and they can't tell me anything else. They said nobody was allowed in the civil building and probably not the physics building either and they had no idea how long it was going to take. Interesting side note they think we're having classes.
Media advisory: Threat forces cancellation of classes
ROLLA, Mo. -- All classes at the University of Missouri-Rolla have been cancelled until 10 a.m. today due to threat affecting the Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Building on campus.
Later this morning, UMR officials will determine whether to hold classes for the remainder of the day. Students are advised to tune in to local radio stations and check their UMR email accounts for updates.
UMR staff members are advised to stay off campus until further notice.
